The Ornellaia 2017 masterfully interprets what was a particularly warm and sunny year. The intense and dark color heralds a wine of beautiful concentration; the nose, rich and complex, releases scents of ripe red fruits, accompanied by notes of sweet tobacco and vanilla. The taste reveals an Ornellaia of great balance, a combination of firmness and pleasant freshness.

Blend: 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 9% Cabernet Franc

Critic Ratings

James Suckling Review - Rated 97:
The 2017 is broad and richly fruited, yet it retains poise and energy. Blackberry, blackcurrant and walnut flavors are shaped by firm, chewy tannins that give the wine definition and intensity. The tannins finish ripe and polished, and the wine has now had time to come together.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate Review - Rated 96:
The warm, dry vintage produced compact berries and a generous, fruit-forward Ornellaia with notable density and concentration. Black and purple fruit move into spice, tobacco, leather, black olive and wild sage. These elements remain harmonious, supported by exceptionally well-managed tannins and a long cellar horizon.

Wine Spectator Review - Rated 94:
Wine Spectator awarded the 2017 vintage 94 points, confirming its place among the highly rated releases of Ornellaia. The score complements the two higher direct-site ratings while preserving the wine’s established critic record.
