This Losmandy LW (Light Weight) adjustable height field tripod is normally supplied as the standard tripod with the Losmandy GM8 German equatorial mount, although it can also be used with the larger Losmandy G-11 and older G9 mounts. It is available here separately as a replacement for a lost or damaged tripod.
The Losmandy LW tripod is designed for use with Losmandy mounts only, with three threaded holes in its sides that match holes in the GM-8's equatorial head. The holes allow the GM-8 head to be securely bolted to the tripod. In addition, the tripod head has machined brackets designed to hold a Losmandy mount's Digital Drive Unit control box at a convenient angle and height.
The tripod's adjustable height legs can be set for a height range of 26" to 44", measuring from ground level to the top of the tripod. The legs have a center brace for rigidity. Large hand-tighten knobs lock the tripod legs at the desired height.
The made-in-the-USA machined aluminum tripod has stainless steel hardware and will support a maximum combined mount and telescope weight of 100 pounds. The tripod weighs 15 pounds.
