Pairing new sealing surfaces with a fresh screen and mounting screw at the same time keeps you from reopening the group twice for parts you should have swapped together.

PRO TIPS

• Replace all three pieces at once, swapping just the gasket while leaving a glazed screen or a stripped screw in place is the #1 reason techs get called back out within a month.
• Seat the conical gasket with the wide face toward the boiler side; installed backwards it won't seal evenly and you'll get channeling on one side of the puck.
