Aberfeldy Distillery was established by the dynamic brothers John and Tommy Dewar in 1896 in Scotland’s Highland whisky region in order to guarantee a supply of quality Scottish malt whisky for Dewar’s range of blended scotch. Aberfeldy Distillery is situated in the heart of the Perthshire countryside where clear, highland water was supplied by the Pitilie Burn which flows right by the distillery, and from 1825 until 1867 had powered the water wheel at Pitilie Distillery just a little upstream. Aberfeldy’s malt barns have been converted to house Dewar’s World of Whisky visitor centre where tours of Aberfeldy Distillery are available to distillery visitors.
